I went to see Margin Call yesterday and liked it very much. My main impression was that it is an adult film. No, not porn. Adult. It did not have to wrap up in an easy ending. No happily-ever-after here. Neither did it avoid moral ambiguity. Real issues require real struggle, and we see can see the characters fighting to make sense of the world they’ve created. I liked the film very much. The performances — some big names with Kevin Spacey and Jeremy Irons and Demi Moore — were understated and right. Stanley Tucci may have stolen the whole thing.
If you are interested in the Wall Street and what’s occurred there in the past few years, this film is well worth seeing. The New Yorker called it the best movie about Wall Street ever, and it may be right….
